Writing Services
I've been teaching stage & screenwriting to adults since 2016, in both group workshops and individual sessions. My approach is fueled by curiosity, a nerdy enthusiasm for story structure, and most importantly the desire to help writers express their stories from a place of authenticity, freedom, and experimentation.
I believe in the power of writing as a source for profound personal and artistic growth, and it's an honor and a privilege to guide others through this journey.
I am committed to making my services as accessible as possible, and never want financial difficulty to be a barrier to access. I am always happy to negotiate fees -- no questions asked, no judgment.
Script & Manuscript Consultation
Wherever you are in the writing process, I'll read and markup your manuscript, provide you with detailed and actionable notes, and meet with you (via phone or zoom) for an hour to discuss next steps for your draft. I tailor this process to address your particular needs -- whether it's the roughest of first drafts or approaching a final polish, I'll honor the vulnerability of sharing work-in-process and ensure that you leave our session with tangible ideas for how to move forward.
“Gina is a wizard at drilling into a written piece and coming up
with profound and useful feedback.
Her insights have been so useful in getting past obstacles."
- Ellen H., Manuscript Consultation
Collaboration Consultation
Entering into a collaboration is like entering into any other relationship -- it requires communication, boundary setting, and an alignment of goals in order to work. But we often jump into collaborations, whether across disciplines to develop new work, or in a rehearsal process, or the forming of a theater company, without taking the time to establish and maintain the collaborative relationship. As an impartial third party, I'll meet with you and your team to facilitate the development of a collaboration agreement, or to help resolve conflicts and offer collaborative tools to keep you and your team focused on what really matters: the work you're making.
"Thank you so much for the workshop, it was insanely helpful!"
-Nohemy V., Theater & Social Justice Playwriting Workshop
Copyediting & Formatting
Ask anyone who knows me and they'll agree -- I'm a real nerd when it comes to spelling, grammar, and sentence structure (one of my favorite things is finding typos in restaurant menus)! I'll copyedit your manuscript or script, and ensure that it's formatted to fit the industry standard of your chosen medium.
“I had a lot of clarity about my manuscript after working with Gina.
Her suggestions were smart and felt right on target.
I really felt that she ‘got’ my novel!”
– Wendy P., Manuscript Editing
Stage & Screenwriting Workshop
I periodically offer Stage & Screenwriting workshops via Zoom. Meeting once a week for 10-week sessions, these workshops are designed to inspire you and help you meet your writing goals in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Each week we'll tackle a dynamic writing exercise, discuss craft concepts, share pages, and offer each other structured feedback. In order to be as accessible as possible, workshops are offered on a sliding scale.
“Gina is the best workshop leader I’ve ever experienced (about 40 years of writing and being part of workshops)”
– Cindy P., Stage & Screenwriting Workshop
Dramaturgical Support
Whether you're a playwright about to workshop a new play or you're a theater about to produce an existing work, I'll create a dramaturgy packet tailored to your particular needs in order to deepen your creative team and/or audience's engagement with the work. Depending on your goals, I can meet with you before, during, or after a rehearsal or production process, as well as facilitate discussions with the creative team or audience to help ensure you get everything you can out of the process.
“Your dramaturgy packet for the 'The Niceties' is simply brilliant! It is really well done – clear, comprehensive, and informative.
Thank you very, very much"
--Bill H., Dramaturgical Support
